Artist Statement

          I am a storyteller.

          I prefer to make things that have a story to them, be it something simple like a landscape at a specific time or more complicated, like a portrait of someone in a moment of emotion.

Often, I make up my own stories as I work and compose titles later to encourage similar responses from viewers. And just as often I work from the other direction, I'll be writing and my words won’t land quite as well as a paint brush or pencil would.

          I want people to look at my work and say, “Who is this?” or “What’s the story here?” I’ll paint with bright colors to bring out a sense of daydreaming, or even a sense of other to prompt thought. I like questions about my art because I have a different story for each snippet of time I make. And the stories I write tend to end up illuminated, smattered with faces and places that words fail to fully encompass.

          I am currently attending school to continue my education in art. Among the many projects for school, I am working on a book series, which goes some what unseen on this site despite it's prevalence in my time, but it has an affect on some of the artworks seen herein.
